There are almost endless things to occupy the visitor in the area, a few of the most popular are:-

Walking

There are many places to walk in the Roughburn area with a wide range of places to go that covers all levels of ability and perfect for spotting and photographing the abundant wildlife.

Climbing

Here at Roughburn we are surrounded by mountains to suit all abilities, including some of the challenging Munro’s and the amazing Ben Nevis the UK’s largest mountain at 4406ft (1344M) is only 15 miles from us.

Canoeing

Canoeists describe this as a premier area due to the range and technicality of its rivers and burns many of which are within easy reach including the famous River Roy.

Fishing

Both free and permit controlled fishing are within easy reach to suit all levels and types of angler with a wide range of species such as brown trout, ferox trout, rainbow trout, pike and charr to name a few as well as the challenging salmon.

Cycling

There are spectacular places to ride both on the mountain trails and on forestry tracks. The Aonach Mor world championship course at Nevis Range is only 15 miles away.

Other Things To See & Do

Some of the other things to do locally include: Quad biking and pony trekking, skiing, golf, sailing, bowling, swimming, deer stalking. You could also visit Aonach Mor and take a trip up the mountain in the Nevis Range  gondola or cruise along the enchanting Loch Ness.
